Kings Road Artists� Studios 5th anniversary exhibition

At the centre of the creative hub that is Pontcanna, Cardiff, lives Kings
Road Artists Studios (KRAS). Tucked away down an alley, KRAS is a fine arts
co-operative, providing artists with studio accommodation at economic rates
and organising exhibitions of members� work.
To celebrate their 5th anniversary, the 18 current members are showing
together in the pop-up exhibition, SOMEBODY PEOPLE, located at The Dairy,
Pontcanna, opposite the entrance to their studios.
Taking its title from lyrics in the David Bowie song 5 years, SOMEBODY
PEOPLE represents the people and the personalities resident in the studios.
While painting may be the dominant, but not exclusive art form of the
studio, each artist is so wildly different from each other that a theme
would have to be an account of each and every work, each bound to each other
only through the artists and their proximity to each other in the studios.
It would have to take into account the micro brewery and music studios
downstairs; the many visitors to gigs, open studios, martial arts lessons
and monthly beer festivals that happen on site, along with former residents,
or its previous use as a garage. For now, in celebration of five years and
counting at Kings Road, we are all SOMEBODY PEOPLE�
